In this eJournal Club we are joined by Prof Neil Poulter who is Professor of Preventive Cardiovascular Medicine, Imperial College London.
Prof Poulter is a past-president of the British Hypertension Society and something of a guru when it comes to managing cardiovascular risk in primary care. He was one of the leading lights behind the Anglo-Scandinavian Cardiac Outcomes Trial, which demonstrated the benefits of tight management of both blood pressure and serum lipids in high risk cardiovascular patients.
The extended observation arm of the lipid-lowering arm of ASCOT has recently been published in the European Heart Journal, which Prof Poulter will discuss with us for this ACADEME eJournal club.
