eJournal Club

The ACADEME eJournal club is a regular online discussion forum for discussing how scientific evidence might impact our everyday clinical management of patients at risk of cardiovascular events.

In each journal club, we’ll be joined by an author or investigator from a recently published paper looking at aspects of cardiovascular risk. That might mean that we’ll be discussing a new guideline, a new cardiovascular risk estimator, or an important new clinical trial.

The views expressed by the discussants are their personal and clinical opinions and don't necessarily reflect the opinions of the Steering Committee or ACADEME.

In this eJournal Club we are joined by Prof Kennedy Cruickshank, who was an investigator in the ADVANCE study, which was published in September 2008 in the Lancet.

ADVANCE was the largest ever randomised trial conducted to help us clarify the management of high risk patients with type 2 diabetes.
